GG091125: Savage Feast

Yeah, sure. Christopher Columbus “discovered” America. And Thanksgiving commemorates that first lovely dinner between the “Indians” who brought the maize and the “Pilgrims” who whipped up the rest of the meal on their gas range. The subsequent “successful genocide of the aboriginal population of North America” aside, enjoy gathering with loved ones, and gorging on poultry, pie, and “yummy alcoholic beverages.” [This post contains both cited and un-cited plagiarism.] —

I stopped calling it Thanksgiving and started calling Carb-Fest awhile back. It’s both more honest and I don’t have to pretend to buy into the malarkey about noble Indians and Pilgrims and being grateful because this year your aren’t living in a tent city.

But I like any excuse to show off cooking skills to a crowd and start drinking at noon.

i tried calling it The Big Eat this year. Carb Fest works too. I was in charge of pies, so i certainly contributed to driving up the carb count at our gathering.
